Job Description: |
The Executive Director is the chief organizing and campaign strategist for the Hispanic Coalition of Greater Waterbury. The ideal candidate is passionate about the Hispanic Community and has experience with constitituent-based organizing. S/he is an accomplished professional with non-profit experience including program management, staff management, fund-raising and fiscal management. The Executive Director should be a collaborative leader and strategic thinker with experience navigating complex political situations..Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) are required.. |

Specific Responsibilities: |
|
Leadership and Vision: |
|
! Works with Board and staff to establish clear vision and direction for Hispanic Coalition, promotes mission and builds support for programs and initiatives. |
|
! Leads strategic planning process, oversees implementation of strategy and monitors progress against agency goals. |
|
! Works collaboratively with the Board of Directors and staff to set achievable agency goals and expectations. |
|
! Leads, motivates and inspires Hispanic Coalition team to achieve the mission. |
|
! Fosters a supportive, accountable and productive work environment. |
|
Management and Administration: |
|
! Develops, implements and manages effective internal operating systems for finance, HR, Facility and other staff support functions. |
|
! Develops Agency Budget with input from program staff and approval by the Board. |
|
! Ensures that agency operates within budget guidelines. |
|
! Ensures that staff is kept fully informed on the operational status of the agency and about events or situations that affect their work and the achievement of agency goals. |
|
Fund-raising and Development: |
|
! Leads creation of fund-raising plan |
|
! Implements plan and evaluates all development and fund-raising work. |
|
! Maintains agency funding from a diverse mix of sources. |
|
! Identifies and cultivates relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporate and public funders. |
|
Financial Management: |
|
! Ensures that financial reporting systems are accurate and efficient. |
|
!Works with staff to develop agency budget and faciltates board review and approval process. |
|
! Ensures that adequate funds are available to permit Hispanic Coalition to carry out its work. |
|
!Works with Board of Directors to ensure that they are informed of the fiscal status of the agency in a timely and effective manner. |
|
Program Management: |
|
!Develops new fundable programs that meet the needs of the community, including plan to meet membership. |
|
!Ensures staff input into the development of new program and long term program plans. |
|
! Establishes sound working relationships with community-based organizations. |
|
Human Resources and Administration: |
|
! Ensures the implementation of an effective, efficient administrative system, structure and technology system. |
|
!Works with Board and Staff to address employee performance and behavior concerns. |
|
! Provides opportunities for staff development and training. |
|
!Manages HR functions, including recruitment and staffing, training and development, employee and labor relations. Policy and procedures and performance management. |
|
External Relations: |
|
!Ensures visibility of the agency and it’s causes in the community, programs and goals. |
|
! Articulates and represents the point of view of Hispanic Coalition to agencies, organizations, media, funders and stakeholders |
Qualifications: |
!Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing |

!Grant-Writing, Fund-raising savvy |
