GITANO FOOD WAREHOUSE IS OFFICIALLY OPEN

"Park Street's continuing revitalization took another step last week thanks to one man's single-minded intention to fulfill his dream." Hartford Courant.

The new Gitano Food Warehouse is located in the corner of Park Street and Lafayette Street, on the site of the then-vacant Carlton Supply Co. building.

Although the Gitano Food Warehouse opened to the public on February 28, on March 28, 2008 at 10AM was the Grand Official Opening.

Many great specials are offered in the store. If you have not come yet, take your time to visit the store. It is worthwhile. The business, is an emulation of BJ's Warehouse and Sam's Club stores, but without the membership fees and with Latino flavor. Customers are able to purchase food products in bulk from Latin American and Caribbean countries.

The store has products from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Dominican, Jamaica, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The meat and the produce areas are bigger than any other store in the area. The store offers many specialized products found nowhere else in Hartford and surrounding areas.

Because of its lower prices the plans call for Gitano Food Warehouse to serve as a wholesaler for smaller grocers throughout the area. All "bodegeros" are invited to come and take advantage of the superb prices.

Within the store you will find several amenities including a Sandwich Shop that offers fresh prepared sandwiches including "Sandwich Cubano" and many other lunch items.

Gitano Food Warehouse is planning to open very soon an area for Icecream and an a Broil chicken "Puerto Rican Style" counters. The opening of these areas are estimated to be on early spring.

Indeed this is another success story for all our Latin Community. Another merchant with incredible tenancy and vision that with the help of SAMA and the City of Hartford has made a dream a reality.
