Golf Tournament:
Every year in June under sunny skies (hopefully) the Spanish American Merchants Association (SAMA) hold its annual Golf Tournament at Keney Park in Hartford. The SAMA Golf Tournament is an annual fundraising event that attracts over 100 golfers from all over the state.
The day begins with the golfers registration and the handing out of the famous SAMA Jacket or Golf Shirt this is quickly followed by a full luncheon being served at 11:00 A.M. and a shotgun start to the tournament at 12:00 P.M. After a full day of golfing, the players are welcomed back to the clubhouse area with a full dinner and the awards ceremony. Prizes are awarded to the first, second and third place teams as well to the players with the longest drive and closest to tee shot. In addition the golfers always look forward the tournament prize raffle which always has numerous prizes that are donated by SAMA merchant’s members and members of the SAMA Board of Directors.
In addition to golfers the SAMA Golf Tournament Committee is always looking for tournament sponsors, tee hold sponsors and businesses and others to advertise in the official tournament program book.

Spanish American Merchants Association Biennial Banquet Gala:
Every two years the Spanish American Merchants Association has a major fundraising event with its Black Tie Banquet Gala which is held in the Fall season of the year.
The event which usually draws more than 600 guests from all over the State of Connecticut and New England is the premier fundraising event for SAMA and has always had the reputation for being the most enjoyable and entertaining event of the year.
The Banquet Gala is an excellent opportunity for networking with all type of business owners, be it small, medium or large business owners. The Banquet Gala also draws elected and appointed officials from Federal, State and Local Government Offices in the State of Connecticut.
The Banquet Gala will always have a theme to the celebration with the theme in 2008 being “Honoring Women Achievements” a salute to the achievements that women have made to the business community in Connecticut. In addition SAMA recognizes individuals with the following awards:
- Leadership Award
- Lifetime Achievement Award
- Corporate Award
- President’s Award
- Merchant of the Year Award
